Stinking breath is a great turn off and many a time it may cause people to stay away from you. Bad breath or halitosis is undeniably embarrassing but it can be easily cured with a proper dental care. It is essential to maintain a good oral health and hygiene in order to reduce bad breath as the root cause of bad breath is the buildup of bacteria in between your teeth or even at the backside of your tongue.

The bad breath can be caused by various factors such as dry mouth, foods, gum diseases and sinus infections. You can easily tackle this trouble of yours by following these few simple tips.

Scrape your tongue

The festering bacteria settling on your tongue is the first clearest indication that your breath stinks.  The fuzzy white layer showing up on your tongue can be one reason for your breath smelling bad. You can try scraping the white coating on your tongue with a toothbrush or some special tongue scrapper.

Gargle with diluted hydrogen peroxide

Make a mix of equal portions of water and hydrogen peroxide and use it for gargling for about 45 seconds. If you do this two times a day, it will stop bad breath completely. Although the peroxide will turn very foamy in your mouth but this will eventually help to kill all the bad bacteria that are causing bad breath for you.

Excessive use of hydrogen peroxide can however decay your tooth enamel. Try this gargling session after every 2-5 days.

Avoid foods that cause bad breath

The foods such as tuna, liver or fish that have a strong smell should be avoided as much as possible. Add the foods like ginger, cilantro and parsley to your daily diet and prefer eating them raw. These foods are good to combat bad breath as they help to restore the colon bacteria thus refreshing your breath altogether.

Cleanse your colon

A clean and healthy colon is essential for your overall health. There is a direct link between your colon and  your mouth. If lots of muck is accumulated in your colon then chances are that you will have a bad breath. An herbal laxative or eating more bran can help you to thoroughly cleanse your colon.
