5 Hot Hair Style Trends For 2006

Hairstyle trends may take some time to spread globally. After a trend catches on they usually fizzle out within a few years. For 2006 there are five hairstyle trends that are really poised to take off in 2006. Let’s take a look.

1) The Hollywood Makeover: Smooth waves of hair with deep side partings bring an air of classic vintage Hollywood. After your shower pat dry your hair. Don’t towel dry vigorously as this will spoil the effect. Then use some finger waving techniques or pin curling. Accessorize with rhinestones or feathers. In particular, ostrich feathers are set to become very popular this year.

2) The Trendy 80′s: The disco and hippie days are finally wearing down. Opt out of the straight hair in favor of crimps. The wind blown, messy or tousled look is in. Accessorize with stilettos and junky jewelry.

3) The Beatles Reborn: Mod is back! The look of the 50′s and 60′s is making a comeback but the newer version uses shorter hair length with more texture in the crown. On the bang side, opt for a longer version having them closer to the eye lashes. You can add depth to this style with color or highlights.

4) Asymmetric Cuts: Consisting of extreme angles and blunt edges, this hairstyle has a sculptured look and an edgy feel. No blending involved here. A cut that allows you to wear one side longer than the other allows for experimenting and risk taking. Some people even cut or shave fun patterns on one of the sides for some real attention grabbing.

5) The Mohawk: This is a very versatile cut good for short and long hair alike. It consists of a strip of hair down the middle of the head and shaved or bald sides. Use a gel to push the hair up in the middle. A Faux hawk can also be achieved by just cutting the sides and back a little shorter than the middle but without actually shaving or cutting it all off. You simply peak the hair up into a “faux” or fake hawk, which is where it gets its name. This style in particular has been around for a long time. From the punk rock days to the famous Mr. T persona. It doesn’t really appear to be going anywhere and is becoming more and more accepted even in the working world as long as it is kept short and neat. This is a great style for men and woman alike.

In the end, remember to use good quality hair care products to keep your hair healthy and looking good. No matter what kind of cut you have, without the proper care it will not make a difference.
