Aricept Side Effects : Treating Early Symptoms of Alzheimer and Associating Precautions

Aricept is among those drug groups that relieve the early symptoms of Alzheimer disease. This disease causes physical changes in the brain that abrupt information flow and interfere normal functioning of thinking, memory and behavior. Aricept does not treat the disease itself but does facilitate normal functioning of the brain on a temporary basis.

It is generally prescribed for a single dose before going to bed. It could be taken either with food or on empty stomach. Its doses should be consumed everyday on a regular basis. Taking this dose on an irregular schedule may make the drug ineffective. If any dose gets missed then consider taking it as soon you remember it. If the next dose schedule is close enough then it is better to skip it.

The Aricept doses should never be doubled. Overdosing these can result in serious consequences. The side effects of overdosing include salivation, nausea, slow heart beat rate, extreme muscle weakness, convulsions, collapse, excessive sweating, vomiting and low blood pressure. On experiencing any of these symptoms, the patient should seek for medical attention immediately.

Certain side effects that associate with Aricept are unpredictable. Therefore, suspecting upon or developing any change in intensity should be referred to the doctor immediately. Generally, common side effects are associated with overdosing issues. These include nausea, insomnia, fatigue, diarrhea, muscle cramps, loss of appetite and vomiting. Often these symptoms are mild and get treated as the treatment progresses. Some other side effect symptoms of it include dizziness, depression, bruising, arthritis, abdominal dreams, frequent urination, weight loss, sleepiness, headaches, fainting and pain.

This drug must be avoided if the patient is allergic to any of its ingredients or to the group of histamines. It can also aggravate other breathing problems including asthma and risk of seizures. This drug must not be combined with other drugs as this may worsen the issue. It has been proved to worsen certain side effects relating to stomach, especially when being combined with non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug or those suffering from stomach ulcers. Hence, consult your doctor if you require consuming other drugs for treating several other health issues.

This medication is not intended for being used in women of child bearing ages. Hence the effects of Aricept during pregnancy or its presence in the breast milk have not been verified to date. This drug is normally recommended for being stored at room temperature and away from direct heat and moisture.
