Benadryl Side Effects – Don’t Use Until you read Important Facts

Benadryl drug is an antihistamine that is used to treat the blockage of natural occurring histamine chemical through diphenhydramine. It is generally used for treating symptoms of common colds and allergies such as itching, hives, rashes, runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Besides, Benadryl can also be used for suppressing coughs, induce sleeps or for treating motion sickness and mild form Parkinson disease.

The Benadryl doses must be consumed strictly as per prescription. If you do not understand the prescription instructions then should consider taking help of a pharmacist or nurse. Its doses are to be taken with full glass of water with or without food. In terms of motion sickness the doses are to be taken 30 minutes before sickness and during meals and before going bed for exposure durations. For treating sleep aids these should be taken 30 minutes before going to bed. Every dose should be perfectly measured with a measuring cup or spoon. The daily recommended dose of diphenhydramine is 300 milligrams per day.

Benadryl must strongly avoid if an individual has been treated with MAOI within the last 14 days. Any such conditions result in serious drug interactions and side effects. Consider informing your doctor if you are suffering from asthma, stomach ulcer, increased pressure in the eyes or glaucoma, prostrate or bladder problems, hyperthyroidism or hypertension. Under these conditions you may be required to lower its doses or avoid it completely. This drug falls under FDA pregnancy category B. the infants are somehow sensitive to antihistamines and breastfeeding babies could actually develop the symptoms of side effects. Hence, it is very necessary consult your doctor while nursing a newly born baby.

On experiencing any allergic reactions the Benadryl doses must be immediately stopped. Other than the serious issues this drug can be continued under less severe symptoms of dizziness, fatigue, sleepiness, enlarged prostrate or urinating problems, dry mouths and headaches. Individuals of 60 or above ages are more prone to its side effects and are generally recommended for mild doses.

Missed doses must be consumed immediately as soon as remembering it. If next dose time closes then it is better to skip the missed one. Any overdosing factors could lead you to vision blurriness, ringing of ears, large pupils, confusion, weakness, sleepiness, insomnia, fever, possible seizures and hallucination. Avoid alcohols and work with caution while with machinery equipments or driving as Benadryl can cause you dizziness or drowsiness and disrupt you attention leading to accidents. Consider storing these drugs at room temperatures and away from direct heat and moist.
