Most people know they need to exercise to stay in shape but few really know how to incorporate the routine into their everyday lives.
Working at a computer all day, eating fast food and sitting in a cubicle for eight to nine hours a day all are factors that can lead to putting on extra weight and put a person at a higher risk for heart disease and other physical ailments.
Before starting any physical fitness routine, you should contact your physician and make sure that you are healthy enough top partake in the activity of your choice.
After a doctor’s approval, there are five tips that can help you get started.
1) Decide to start eating right and get active. Sounds simple enough but make the conscious decision to do this sets you up for success. It’s a commitment to yourself. You are taking responsibility for your actions and deciding to make the change needed.
2) Keep a record of your daily routine. By writing down everything your day consists of it becomes easier to see where your extra time for a workout may fit in. Setting an unreasonable goal will not get you anywhere. Setting realistic goals, on the other hand, will allow you success in your new fitness regimen.
3) Educate yourself. Not having the proper information on fitness and nutrition will find you failing fast. You need to know what to eat and how much. You need to know what exercises to do for what you are trying to accomplish. get to know your body. Use the Internet and research, research, research! Or, if money allows, visit a personal trainer for some great advice and tutelage.
4) Keep it simple! Most of us have hectic schedules so creating a complex plan that does to adhere to your available time or daily routine is pointless. Eating less per meal or committing to walking an hour a day or so is far better and more realistic than saying “I’m going tot he gym for two hours every day this week!”
5) Follow through with your plan. Commit everyday to your new goals. Keep a list of what you’ve done and what you plan to do. Keeping a record of what you’ve done as well is a great method to increase your positivity by showing you that you can do it and have done it. Every day of success makes the next day easier as well.
These are some minor tips but hopefully they will help you get started on your new fitness program and help you find the success you deserve! Getting started is the hardest part. However, by setting some realistic goals and committing to your health the results and the change in you can be astronomical.
