Many people complain of slow or no muscle growth even after a few months of stressful workout training. There are seven major reasons for sluggish muscle growth. These causes may vary from one person to another depending upon his/her health and body structure.

Some of these causes for poor body growth include the following:

  1. Intense training sometimes may actually break down your muscles. Therefore, one must not train one muscle group for more than two times a week to recover damaged tissue and cells in the body.
  2. Training for long hours can over secrete cortisol by adrenal gland. This steroid hormone regulates carbohydrate metabolism and maintains blood pressure. When this hormone gets overexcited then it can destroy muscle cells. So, workout for lesser hours that is not more than 45 minutes to avoid such occurrences.
  3. Insufficient night sleep is another major reason for poor muscle growth. Our body cell multiplies when we are asleep. Hence, eight hours of sleep is necessary for the faster and good muscle growth rate.
  4. Minimize your alcohol consumption that breaks muscle mass and slows down vital organs. Thus, stay away from alcohol to keep fit and strong.
  5. Stop clinging to one exercise routine for several days. Monotonous workout pattern makes the muscles adapt to your routine and prevent muscle growth. Many bodybuilding trainers recommend changing workout schedules after every 6 to 8 days to keep your muscles in motion or active.
  6. Prevent simple and easy workouts. Keep altering your reps and weight each time you next train any specific muscle group. Overloading of the muscles accelerates their natural growing process.
  7. Lack of sufficient protein hampers proper human growth. Scientifically protein is believed to be the building block of the human body. So, eat lots of protein-based diets to build bigger muscles.

So, concentrate on these reasons and suggestions to enhance your appearance and feel better.
