You might have been experiencing a scalding sensation in your mouth especially in the middle parts. This is referred to a burning tongue syndrome. You might get the symptoms more often during the day than at nights. There are a couple of natural home remedies that you can use to help you better manage the condition. Burning tongue is easy to administer.

An easy yet useful remedy you can use is taking water when the scalding feeling starts. Sip on the cold water slowly for a few minutes for you to properly get relief. This makes you feel better and minimize the severity of the symptoms. Another idea is to suck on some ice blocks. Let them thaw first as they might cause some cuts on your tongue and make the condition even worse.

Another idea that can help you get relief is chewing on gum. Avoid sugary or flavored kinds of gums as these might worsen the condition. The best type is the sugarless kind. It helps cool down the mouth area as you are able to get in more air.

It is advisable to keep away from alcohol, drugs and cigarettes. Taking these substances when suffering from burning tongue syndrome only makes it worse. They further inflame the tongue which makes it even more unbearable for you. A good idea is to eat healthy snacks. Keep away from sugary or sweetened drinks and beverages. It is wise to avoid coffees, teas, juices and sodas at this time.

Avoid heavily spiced foods too. This will help you feel better as your tongue doesn’t go overdrive with the burning sensation associated with spicy foods. Eat pure foods if you can. Avoid sauces, spices or food additives. Watch out on the level of salt in your food.

A good idea when dealing with burning mouth is to take foods which are kind to your tongue. Plan your diet to include a lot of whole and natural foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits. Eat carrots, bananas cabbages, water cress, and avocadoes among others. It’s wise to avoid citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons and tangerines.

Your condition of burning tongue might result from depression, poor nutrition, or nerve problem. In such cases it is wise to treat the underlying problem effectively so as to get relief. Seek medical attention from a professional in order to get started on the right kind of medication. You can also improve such problems by eating a proper diet and following a healthy lifestyle.

Other causes of burning tongue are as a result of other underlying diseases such as thrush. Treat such conditions as soon as you notice the symptoms. Following a healthy diet and lifestyle is the best thing to do while on medication.
