Tinnitus is a state where a person keeps hearing sounds, which are not really being produced by any kind of external source. If only the affected person is able to hear the sounds, then this condition is known as subjective tinnitus. There are certain doctors who are able to hear these sounds by making use of an audio hearing device. This condition is known as objective tinnitus.

Reasons for Occurrence of Tinnitus :

The most common reason for the occurrence of tinnitus is the presence of some kind of infection or damage to the ear. It could also occur due to some kind of damage to the auditory nerves, head injury or impaired hearing due to some kind of heavy noise pollution. Some of the other causes for the occurrence of tinnitus are whiplash, meniere’s diseases, otosclerosis, and blockage of the Eustachian tubes, severe stress, very high blood pressure and the over dosage of drugs like aspirin.

Symptoms of Tinnitus :

Every person who has been affected by Tinnitus will hear different kinds of sounds. They could be many different kinds of sounds like ticking, ringing, knocking, hissing, clicking, whooshing and many more sounds. If these sounds are not being produced by the external environment, which is surrounding you, then this condition is known as tinnitus. There are certain cases where the doctor will also be able to hear these sounds and this is known as objective tinnitus. Otherwise it is called subjective tinnitus.

Treatment of Tinnitus :

There are many options available using which tinnitus can be treated. But most of these treatment methods will only provide some kind of relief from the symptoms. There are only certain treatments, which will actually work on the main reason for the occurrence of tinnitus while others will only treat the symptoms of tinnitus.

In case tinnitus has been caused by the presence of earwax, then the ears should be cleaned and all the wax, which is present, should be removed. If some kind of damage to the middle ear or the inner ear is the reason for the occurrence of tinnitus, then this can also be taken care of. There are certain cases when tinnitus has been caused by a brain tumor, which is present in that portion of the brain, which is responsible for receiving and interpreting nerve signal from the ear. Removal of this tumor can also help in curing tinnitus.

But there are many cases where the actual reason for the occurrence of tinnitus has not yet been discovered and it is difficult to find a treatment option, which will be useful for providing relief to the person. Lidocaines, Xylocaine, andzilactin have proved to be useful in treating tinnitus. But these medications also have certain side effects, which need to be investigated before it is prescribed for any person.

Natural Treatment of Tinnitus :

Acupuncture, yoga, tinnitus maskers, exercises for relaxation and counseling are some of the natural and alternative methods of treating tinnitus. But there could be certain cases where surgical treatment will be required in order to cure tinnitus. The diet of the person suffering from tinnitus should contain adequate amounts of Vitamin A, B, E as well as zinc. Myrrh gum, burdock root, gingko biloba, goldenseal, bayberry bark, hawthorn leaf and flower are some of the herbs, which could be useful in the treatment of tinnitus.
