Causes and Home Remedies for Back Pain

In today’s mechanical world back pain has become a very common disease among people of all age group. It is medically referred as lumbago in which a severe pain or discomfort is felt in the lower back portion. There are two forms of back pain one is acute and the other is chronic. Back pain that is sourced from excessive usage of back tends to affect muscles, bones, ligaments and tendons. It is must for you to get rid of back pain to avoid further hazardous conditions like cervical and lumbar spondylosis and involve actively in daily chores. There are some useful home remedies that will relieve you from back pain.

Causes:

Present life style has sourced several reasons for getting back pain at an earlier stage. Some of the main causes are:

  1. Inactive living habits
  2. Heavy nature of jobs
  3. Mental stress
  4. Muscle twitching
  5. Obesity
  6. Bad posture
  7. Back strain
  8. Disc disorders
  9. Other chronic diseases
  10. Strained ligaments

Symptoms:

  1. Constant pain in the lower back
  2. Difficult to bend forward or backward.
  3. Muscle aches
  4. Stiff neck
  5. locked areas in your back
  6. body pain

Home remedies for back pain:

There are several simple and effective home treatments for better relief from back pain.

  1. Oil massage can be done to your affected portion with herbal oils. This will relax your muscles and give comfort to your back.
  2. Practise to maintain correct posture while doing any form of activities. This will prevent your back from damage.
  3. Apply garlic oil or eucalyptus oil on the back and give hot water pack to soothe back pain.
  4. Ice pack also can be used to reduce back pain.
  5. Eat fiber rich nutritious diet that includes fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, pulses etc.
  6. Use a correct size pillow and mat while sleeping.
  7. Try to practise some regular exercises like yoga to strengthen you back.
  8. Do not lift heavy weights with one hand and do not lift them in standing posture.
  9. It is not advisable to wear heeled footwear, as it will increase back pain.
  10. Take juice from one lemon and mix it with one cup of water and pinch of salt, drink this juice everyday to get relief from back pain.
  11. Try to reduce stress and over weight to protect your back from pain.
  12. Make use of suitable chairs to comfort your lower back as this will give you a correct sitting posture and reduce back pain.
  13. Vitamin C supplement can be taken daily in admitted dosage to treat back pain.
  14. Applying raw potato in form of poultice is another effective home treatment for back pain.
  15. Take ten numbers of basil or tulsi leaves in a cup of water and allow this to boil until it becomes half the quantity and add one fourth teaspoon of salt. Drink this once daily to cure backache.
