Causes and Home Remedies For Bacterial Vaginitis

Bacterial Vaginitis is the infection of the vagina in women caused by the overgrowth of bacteria. This is also known as bacterial vaginosis. This condition if left untreated will cause the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease and other complications mainly during pregnancy. This must be treated carefully to avoid further serious health problems.

Causes:

Some of the main sources for bacterial vaginitis are:

  1. Over growth of bacteria in the vaginal tract.
  2. Imbalanced pH levels
  3. Poor diet
  4. Stress
  5. Poor hygiene
  6. Repeated sexual intercourse
  7. Moisture in the vaginal area
  8. Use of heavy dosage drugs
  9. Poor quality undergarments

Symptoms:

Bacterial vaginitis has several embarrassing symptoms like:

1. Fishy odor and greyish vaginal discharge

2. Itching or burning sensation in the vagina

3. Pain in urinating or during intercourse

4. Light bleeding from vagina

5. Redness of the lips of vagina.

6. Heavy discharge after coitus or menstrual cycle.

Home remedies to treat bacterial vaginitis

Bacterial vaginitis can be healed effectively with little care and precaution in daily chores by applying some beneficial home remedies like the following:

  1. Soak a tea bag in water and cool it in refrigerator. You can apply this in to the vagina to soothe pain.
  2. Eating raw garlic every morning or applying garlic paste directly on the vagina will help to reduced fungal infection.
  3. Some effective herbs like tea tree oil, black walnut, Echinacea and goldenseal help to treat bacterial vaginitis.
  4. Soak cotton plugs in yogurt and apply it over the infected vagina.
  5. Turmeric powder mixed with milk can be used as an antifungal agent to cure symptoms of bacterial vaginitis.
  6. Include plenty of vegetable juice along with other nutritious diet to have advantage over bacterial vaginitis.
  7. While taking hot water bath add few drops of cedar oil in it to reduce itching.
  8. Prepare tea with one teaspoon of tracheal leaves and this will help to clean body toxins.
  9. Applying Neem powder over the infected area will have an effective antifungal property.
  10. Cold water pack will reduce the irritation in the vagina.
  11. Use medicated soap suitable for your skin to avoid infection.
  12. Another easiest way to get away from bacterial vaginitis is to wear high quality cotton panties which will absorb moisture and prevent vaginal infection.
  13. Mix apple cider vinegar into two cups of warm water and use this to clean vagina. This will be very effective to fight off toxins from the spot.
  14. Use good condoms during sexual intercourse and always keep the vaginal area clean after intercourse.
  15. Practise hygienic toilet habits to get rid of bacterial vaginitis.
  16. Avoid wearing tight clothes.
  17. Avoid eating junk foods, sugar, alcohol, high fat stuffs. Drink plenty of water.
  18. Calendula can be added to boiling water and cooled. This mixture can be used douche to reduce inflammation.
  19. Boric acid douche also can be used to acidify vaginal pH.
