Causes and Home Remedies for Pyorrhea

Pyorrhea is the infection caused in the gums. Due to this condition the root of the teeth gets inflamed and resulting in bleeding and pus from the gums. Pyorrhea is medically referred as gingivitis, periodondtitis or periodontal disease. This condition leads to lose of teeth among adults.

Causes:

  1. Bacterial infection
  2. Poor nutrition
  3. Injury to the gums
  4. Unclean brushing habits
  5. Drugs
  6. Other infection of the teeth

Symptoms:

  1. Bad odor in mouth
  2. Bleeding in gums
  3. Swelling and tenderness of the gums
  4. Recession of the gums
  5. Loosing teeth
  6. Pain while eating
  7. Redness of the gums
  8. Pus oozes out from the gums
  9. Results in liver damage

Remedies:

  1. Brush your teeth and gums twice a day. Alter your brush once in three months. Use harmless medicated toothpaste. All this will enhance a healthy teeth and gums.
  2. Chewing unripe guava and its leaves will strengthen teeth and gums and stops bleeding.
  3. Include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Spinach and carrot juices also can be taken to cure pyorrhoea.
  4. Practise proper chewing habits. It is also good to eat hard and fibrous food items to make the teeth and gums fit and strong.
  5. Use lemon juice and rub it on the gums. This will soothe the gum swellings.
  6. You can try oil pulling using sesame oil and gargle the oil in the mouth for 10 minutes and then spit it out. This will encourage the healing process of pyorrhoea.
  7. Bark of Banyan tree can be used to brush your teeth and also you can boil the banyan twigs in boiling water and used this essence for gargling.
  8. Include small amount of ghee in your daily meals. This will soothe the gums and relieves pain.
  9. Take some warm water and add a pinch of salt. Use this water to gargle every morning to treat pyorrhea.
  10. Pepper powder can be mixed with some salt and rubbed over the gums. This will have antibacterial property and heal pyorrhea effectively.
  11. Avoid smoking, chewing pans and tobacco.
  12. Oral hygiene is very essential to get rid of pyorrhea.
  13. Chew lettuce after meals regularly to prevent pyorrhea.
  14. Include wheat recipes like chapatti and rotti. This will provide proper exercising habit to your teeth and gums.
  15. Fenugreek is a very beneficial remedy to cure pyorrhea. Soak fenugreek in water for overnight and drink this in the morning or you can use fenugreek powder for preparing tea.
  16. Eat one ripe banana every day. This will give better relief from pyorrhea.
  17. Mix mustard oil with some salt and rub this on the gums using cotton balls. This will reduce irritation on the gums.
  18. Extract juice of raspberry leaves and apply on the gums.
  19. Garlic juice can be applied on the teeth and gums and let it as such for some time and then rinse it off. Garlic has antibacterial property and so it kills the infectious germs and cure pyorrhea.
