Causes of Whooping Cough :
The bacteria Bordetella pertussis is the main reason for the occurrence of whopping cough. Many children get whopping cough easily since this is very easily contagious. People who have not received the right kind of immunization are easily susceptible to being affected by whooping cough.
Symptoms of Whooping Cough :
Sneezing accompanied by a running nose is two of the primary symptoms of the onset of a whopping cough. People also experience a dry cough and they feel very weak and do not have the strength to eat too much. A whooping sound occurs during the process of inhalation. Some people also experience mild fever to a certain extent. The process of coughing will always be accompanied by vomiting. The eyes will also keep watering on a regular basis.
Treatment of Whooping Cough :
Antibiotics are used in the treatment of a whooping cough. A lot of fluids like water, juices, soups and fruits should be consumed on a regular basis in order to prevent any kind of dehydration during this phase. The person who has been infected should be kept inside an isolated room so that the infection will not spread to any other member of the house. Young babies and infants who have been diagnosed with whooping cough will require treatment from a hospital. They will have to be fed through a tube. The quantity of meals, which are being consumed, should be small and they should be eaten at frequent intervals. A cool mist vaporizer should be used in order to provide some kind of relief from coughing.
Home Treatment for Whooping Cough :
- Licorice root powder should be mixed with honey and consumed at least three times in a day. But this kind of treatment should not be administered for patients who are suffering from high blood pressure.
- Some garlic pods should be crushed and the juice should be extracted and at least two spoons of this juice should be consumed at least once in a day.
- Fenugreek seeds should be boiled in water for five minutes and one spoon of honey and ginger juice should be added to it. This mixture should be consumed at least twice in a day.
- Honey should be mixed with a glass of hot water and consumed at least three to four times in a day.
