Fatigue and exhaustion are the two most common reasons for the occurrence of stress. People lead very hectic and stress filled lives today, which consist of many tight schedules and deadlines. Many people have the misconception that only people who hold powerful positions like doctors; lawyers, judges and politicians are subjected to stress. Stress has now become an integral part of the life of every person irrespective of his or her age or profession.

Causes of stress :

There are two main kinds of stress namely internal as well as external stress.

1. External stress is stress, which has been caused by external factors, which are physically present around us like people from our workplace or home and the general environment, which surrounds us.

2. Internal stress arises due to the mental and emotional mindset of the person. The basic nature and personality of the individual and his method and tact of dealing with a particular situation will determine the method in which internal stress will be handled. Stress can also be caused by performing simple tasks, which are being done on a daily basis like getting the kids ready for school in the morning. It is always important to understand the reason for the occurrence of stress so that it will be possible to find the method of eliminating the stress.
Stages of stress

Stress is not something, which will come into the life of a person in a sudden instance like a heart attack. This will slowly erode our lives in three different progressive stages.

3. Alarm stage – An alarm is usually trying to draw our attention to something, which is out of the ordinary. The behavior of the person starts undergoing certain subtle stages during the initial stages of the onset of stress. This could either be due to a heavy workload at the office or the obstacles, which are being encountered in completing a given task. The stress will soon reach a stage when the person realizes what is happening and he will find some way to gain relief in order to relieve this stress.

4. Resistance stage – The stress, which is being experienced by the person, could further lead to frustration during the resistance stage. A person might be having a huge workload at the office and no matter how much time he devotes to his work, it just seems to keep building up. This could lead to a lot of anger and frustration and his level of efficiency and productivity will also start dropping.

5. Exhaustion stage – During this final stage of stress, the person might go into depression or experience an anxiety attack. Fatigue is one common characteristic, which is experienced by people during this stage. People are very tense during such a time period and they can be easily subjected to temper tantrums.
