Blepharoplasty is the most popular cosmetic surgery to remove eye bags. Eyelid surgery technique is also used to remove the fats that are normally present on the upper and lower eyelids. This surgery is helpful in reducing the puffiness of eye bags which is noticed below the eyes.
Surgery to remove eye bags
An incision is normally done in the case of upper eyelids in the fold line that can be found 1 cm above the eyelashes. During the procedure of incision, the surgeon separates the muscle and skin from subcutaneous sheets. He also removes the excessive fat and trims the baggy skin. Those incisions are closed in the end through minute stitches. In the case of lower eyelid, the incision is done below the eyelashes with the same procedure as mentioned earlier.
Duration of surgery
The full fledge procedure of cosmetic surgery takes 1.5-4 hours. An anesthetic is needed at the time of surgery and one needs to stay in the hospital overnight. In many cases, it is a one-day procedure and one is not required to stay overnight.
Processes after surgery
After the surgery, the surgeon covers the eyes with a bandage in order to lubricate the eyes. You might experience the feeling of bruising and swelling in first few weeks. Eyelids can become dry, so the eye drops have to be used. Stitches are removed after 5-7 days. Some scars may be left which gradually heal on their own.
Recovery time
Recovery period varies from individual to individual. It is advisable that a patient should take proper care and rest after the surgery for some days. Sometimes a revival period is of one week to 12 days but sometimes it exceeds. Do not strain your eyes.
Surgery is not a complicated process; just go ahead and have more beautiful eyes.
