Cure for Itching with Easy Home Remedies

Itching is a sensation created through a kind of tingling on the skin, which due to its irritation brings a desire to scratch the area where the sensation persists Itching might have caused due to a number of reasons including food allergy, pet allergy or plant allergy, insect bites, skin conditions or even bad hygiene. If you continuously scratch the skin, there may be bruises, sore skin and painful skin. Sometimes Itching can extend to the entire body and at other times, it may be in a particular part.

Symptoms

Skin turns red, itchy, and there may be patches with scaly patterns. Symptoms like scrapped skin, scarred skin and blisters also cause itching.

Causes :

1. Dry skin is an important reason, among other factors, for Itching.
2. Unkempt and Dirty areas can cause itching.
3. Chemicals coming to contact with skin, stings, allergic reaction to food, or pets, or plants, certain medicines, etc. can cause itching. Extreme itching can be felt when your skin is affect by Psoriasis, Seborrheic dermatitis, Urticaria, Pityriasis rosea.

Remedies :

There are a number of Home remedies for itching. Some of these are listed below:

1. Milk

Bathing in a can of evaporated milk mixed with oatmeal and baking soda can pacify itching.

2. Baking soda

Similarly bathe in bath water in which Baking soda is mixed, to soothe skin irritation, and relieve you from itching from prickly heat, insect bites, small skin ailments etc.

3. Pumice stone

You can use a pumice stone to rub the area where there is lot of irritation. Wash the area with cold water and put a bit of alcohol in it. After 15 minutes, apply generously Vaseline, which will soothe the skin and cure itching.

4. Chickweed poultice

Soak a handful of chickweed in water, and as the weed becomes soft, turn it into a poultice and apply it on the itchy area. This will relive itching.

Other home remedies include applying of Aloe Vera, cod liver oil, Lemon juice, vitamin E oil, wheat germ oil, or witch hazel tea to the affected portion of the skin. Though you may find relief, this is not a permanent remedy. Diet also helps cure itchy skin, and as such foods containing vitamin C, beta-carotene, Vitamin E and zinc can help. Before retiring, it is recommended to rub a moisturizer generously to your skin. Which softens the skin and itching is avoided.

Itching is a condition which happens due to a variety of reasons, and unless serious skin ailments like psoriasis are present, they can be easily cured through home remedies. Next time when your skin itches, ensure that it is attended to immediately, and if it is because of dry skin, smoothening it through moisturizers to get relief is of utmost importance.
