The inflammation of the lining of mucus in the stomach of the person is known as gastritis. The white blood cells will get relocated into the wall of the stomach and this kind of activity usually takes place in the event of an injury. Gastritis is a condition, which can cause a lot of discomfort, and if it is not treated at the right time and in the right manner, it can precipitate into something, which can prove to be very fatal for the person concerned.
Causes of Gastritis :
Gastritis occurs due to infections, which are caused by viruses, bacteria and fungi. The Helicobacter pylori bacterium has been known to be one of the most well known causes of gastritis all over the world. People who have very weak immune systems and those who have been sick for a very long period of time are likely to suffer from gastritis, which has been caused by bacteria or fungi.
People who have been using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, suffering from an infection due to helicobacter pylori, pernicious anemia, wearing out of the lining of the stomach and from chronic bile reflux are also likely to be suffering from chronic gastritis. Some of the other causes of gastritis are:
- Consumption of caustic poisons
- Consumption of alcohol
- Medication like aspirin and adrenal corticosteroids
- Flu
- Recovery from a major surgical procedure
- Sustaining severe burns as well as injuries
- Allergy to certain drugs
- Food poisoning
Symptoms of Gastritis :
Some of the most common symptoms of gastritis are:
- Killing of hunger
- Severe vomiting
- Nausea
- Headache
- Giddiness
- Extreme pain and discomfort in the stomach area
- Bad breathe
- Sour taste in the mouth
- Increased secretion of saliva
- Decreased urine output
- Severe mental depression
- Heartburn
Treatment of Gastritis :
The treatment for gastritis will also be dependent on the reason for the occurrence of gastritis. The medication, which has been prescribed, will help in reducing the release of stomach acids. Antacids will usually be prescribed in order to reduce the secretion of stomach acids. This will help in providing a lot of relief to the person and also in curtailing the symptoms. Most of the treatments, which are being prescribed for gastritis, will only help in reducing the symptoms. They will help the stomach lining to heal since the acids have irritated the tissue and inflamed it.
Many doctors prescribe two antibiotics as well as a proton pump inhibitor. Bismuth or pepto bismol will also be added depending on the circumstances. This will help in completely destroying all the bacteria and also providing relief from the pain as well as the nausea.
