Drying of skin is a major problem of concern for maximum women who are above 35 years. However, this may not affect those who have oily skin, but women with dry skin may find that their skin appears flaky and tight due to lack of moisture in their skin. Skin aridness is not only an effect of loss of moisture from the outer layer of the skin, but also due to the evaporation of moisture from the underlying layers of the skin. Moisturizing softens the top layer of the skin for a small period of time.

In order to have soft and supple skin, oil your skin from the inside. For this drink at least eight glasses of water everyday to flush out toxic elements out of your body. Include more fresh vegetables and fruits in your daily meal to keep your body cells well-hydrated. Avoid shortage of fluid in the body by drinking sufficient water periodically. Try herbal teas prepared from chamomile, linden flower or mint to break this monotony of frequent water consumption.

An external moist atmosphere is also necessary for providing essential moisture for your skin to keep it plump. A humidifier will be effective in cold weather; especially during winter months to prevent drying effects of indoor heating and also during the summer if you are using air conditioners. Use pure mineral water or a spray that contains floral waters and aromatherapy essential oils to refresh your skin whole day. Steam bath is an alternative way of hydrating your skin. Avoid extremely hot water as it can remove oils that shield your skin. After this process, massage your body with aromatherapy oil before your skin dry out completely, and then wipe your skin gently with a soft cotton towel. The thin layer of aromatherapy oil protects your body by preventing evaporation of moisture in the form of essential oils that you have applied on your skin after the bath.
