External hemorrhoids are very painful anal swellings that make life very unpleasant for those who experience them. Difficulty in passing bowel, bleeding, and pain are all symptoms of external hemorrhoids. It is wise to make sure that the hemorrhoids are not too big as to require surgery (as they sometimes do), and a visit to a physician is a wise initial course to take. Even if the external hemorrhoids do require surgery (laser surgery is very effective and has a faster recovery time) there are home remedies which may be taken to help prevent and treat any external hemorrhoids which may appear after surgery.
First, one should analyze the diet to see if there are changes which can be made to encourage the passage of bowel through the system and out of the body. Also, it is essential to keep the body well-hydrated in order to keep the bowel matter soft so that it does not become hard and compacted and therefore difficult to pass. Drinking plenty of water and juices will help soften the bowel and keep the body well-hydrated. A diet rich in fruit will help keep the body regular and the stool soft so that external hemorrhoids are kept to a minimum or unapparent altogether. Figs, prunes, grapes, bananas, blueberries, and blackberries are all very effective at initiating peristaltic movement so that a softer bowel may be passed.
It is also advisable to use caution when cleaning the anus after a bowel movement, so as not to cause irritation and possible bleeding. Use moist wipes or soft toilet tissue instead of generic tissue, which can be too rough on delicate areas. Using an aloe vera gel after cleaning the anus will help soothe the external hemorrhoids and allow them a chance to heal. Also, wear loose clothing which will allow free movement and cotton clothing which will absorb any perspiration so that the perspiration will not irritate the external hemorrhoids. Keep the area as clean as possible and soothed with aloe vera gel. This remedy may be done as often as needed, and should be done after each visit to the bathroom.
Following these simple and effective remedies will help one get rid of and prevent external hemorrhoids. If done correctly, there should be no future problems with a good diet with additional fruit, fiber, and hydrating liquids to keep the digestive tract functioning normally. Hopefully, any prior surgeries or harsh treatments will soon become a dim and unpleasant memory for those individuals who had to undergo them. External hemorrhoids are a condition which is most certainly treated better if treated as early as possible so as to minimize any suffering that the individual has to endure.
