Home Remedies For Warts

Warts are a common problem for some people. They are unsightly and can be difficult to get rid of. Sometimes warts are cured by harsh chemicals or freezing, but if those treatments are unavailable or undesirable, there are home remedies which can help make those warts disappear for good.

Castor oil is one of the oldest and best home remedies for warts. Castor oil should be spread liberally over the wart each night for a few months. This is an effective treatment, even though it is a bit slow. Fig juice can be rubbed onto the warts several times a day also as a treatment. Raw potatoes and raw onions may also be rubbed onto the warts every day. The raw potato and raw onion treatment usually takes about two weeks to be effective. A crushed clove of garlic may also be rubbed onto the affected area twice a day for about a week or even less to help clear up warts. Using garlic juice will also have the same effect. Break open a vitamin E capsule and add that to the garlic if desired to help speed up the treatment.

Milkweed, dandelion, and marigold are all good phyto-products for warts and the juices of these plants are applied to the warts every day to clear them up. In addition to figs, the juices in pineapple and papaya are effective in treating warts, as are banana peels, when rubbed onto the affected area. The milk from a thistle is also a good twice-daily topical treatment.

Apple cider vinegar can also be used topically to treat warts. Bandage up a vinegar-soaked cotton ball onto the wart and leave it overnight. Placing a little bit of raw bacon onto the wart will also be effective. It is also thought that by placing a piece of cooked cabbage onto the warts for a one-time five-minute treatment will make the warts disappear in just a couple of days.

Dissolving an aspirin (regular aspirin, not ibuprofen or acetaminophen) in a little bit of water and then applying that to the warts and then bandaging it will serve as an effective treatment. The aspirin treatment should be done twice a day until the warts are gone.

Vitamin C tablets that have been crushed and applied to the warts will help; grapefruit extract and tea tree oil will also work. The topical applications are generally somewhat acidic in nature, and the bandaging removes the opportunity for the wart to survive by blocking off the oxygen intake. The combination of the topical applications and the bandaging makes the healing process a little bit faster, and most treatments take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.
