Home Remedy for Jaundice

Jaundice is a contagious disease, which can easily spread through water and food. It is caused by a virus, Hepatitis-A. It infects the liver, obstructing normal functioning of this vital organ. Jaundice is the result of an infection in liver which impairs the normal functioning of the liver. The most commonly seen jaundice is caused by the hepatitis A virus. This infection increases bilirubin, which is bile content, in our blood, resulting in our skin, eyes, mucus membrane etc. appearing yellow. Other symptoms of jaundice include joint pains, fever, fatigue, yellowish urine, and nausea, loss of appetite, headache, and constipation. There are a number of natural home remedies for jaundice.

Simple home remedies include, drinks, pastes, etc. made out of natural herbal produce. These preparations are easy to make, and does not require any exotic herbs to be purchased. In fact the remedies are only from vegetables and other natural products which we use daily in our kitchen, and therefore when you have the symptoms of jaundice, make sure you reach out for any of these products and start treating the patients. Here, treatment refers only to drinking juices and licking away the edible pastes that are home made. Here are these recipes:

Fresh radish leaves ground into juice, helps ease the jaundice. This extract will also help you regain your appetite apart from ensuring your bowel movements This also helps your general health, even jaundice would have been cured.

The other simple home remedies for jaundice include :

1. Three times a day of quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder in hot water;

2. Take fresh Papaya leaves and grind them into fine paste. Mix half a tea spoon of this paste with a teaspoon of honey and consume it daily which can treat jaundice;

3. A pinch of pepper and salt mixed to a glass of tomato juice, taken early in the morning can prevent jaundice;

4. Lemon juice can also protect liver cells, while barley water is very effective in treating jaundice;

5. Another home remedy for jaundice is a little bit elaborate. Soak overnight in a glass of pure water 8 almond kernels, 5 cardamoms and 2 dried dates. In the morning; after removing the date seeds, and peeling out the almond coatings, grind all of them into a paste. Mix this paste with a bit of sugar and butter. Even a single use of this paste you will find relief from jaundice.

6. Juice made from pigeon pea leaves taken daily can help relieve jaundice;

Apart from the above other home remedies include easy preparations like boiling snake gourd leaves, mixing it with coriander seeds also boiled in water. When the water evaporates, reducing the quantity to 1/3rd of the original quantity, mix the leaf and seed decoction; this should be taken daily. Apart from natural home remedies for jaundice, the patients should be taken care of by providing them with easily digestible food. Allow them to rest completely with increased fresh juices added to their diet.
