Many surgeons do not seem to be serious enough regarding their work nature. Different surgeons suggest different number of grafts for transplantation. This makes the decision difficult for persons interested in hair transplant surgery. However it gives some idea regarding what to expect.

There are surgeons who often transplant grafts on spots that already contain hair. It may be so because they find it easier than performing the operation on bald areas. Also it has been seen that people do get the exact number grafts as billed by their surgeons.

As a result of which the density of hair remains less than expected and leaves the patient in a robbed position. Therefore, it is necessary for you to carefully shop for the right surgeon and determine the correct number of grafts required.

In order to get best results one should himself calculate the number of grafts required for his bald area. If a surgeon does suggests the same numbers or something closer then its better to opt for another surgeon. However, even if a surgeon agrees on the estimated numbers it is necessary for the patient to verify that those number of grafts are transplanted.

It must be remembered that the average number of grafts required in a bald area amounts 25% of the actual covering. This figure can be moved up or down to some extent concerning factors such as thickness, color and curliness. The resulting figure gives you the exact number of grafts required.

Also, the color constitutes as a determining factor with regard to skin color. Light-colored people would prefer light-color hair whereas dark colored people would like it dark. However, going against it would require more hair to be transplanted. This is so because contrast in the colors of hair and skin reveals the baldness in case of insufficient grafting.

The hair density for average Caucasian males is two hairs per millimeter. This amount suggests 1250 hairs per square inch.  Further, calculating with an average of two hairs per follicular unit gives 625 follicular units per square inch.

Requiring 25% of this figure amounts 156 follicular units per square inch. Finally you can measure your balding area and multiply the number of square inches by 156. Being aware of this figure you will feel as a much practical consumer. It feels good going through the amount of treatment that you are sure of getting.
