How to Lower Back Pain?

Believe it or not, people in United States spend over $50 billion to treat or diagnose back pain problems, and these are among the top 10 problems here? It should be surprising to know that except for some cases resulting from chronic sicknesses, a huge number of back-related problems are directly due to incorrect postures, and lifting things. Lower back pain can be prevented if we correct our postures.

The lower back is formed of the spinal column, known as five discs immediately below thoracic cage, also known as the lumbar. This is a column of bones, piled up one on top of the other. Soft tissue, made of tendons, ligaments and muscles, separates each disc of the lumbar region, ensuring spinal columns flexibility, which in turn helps the longevity and energetic functioning of the lumbar. Once this flexibility is hampered, lower back pain surfaces.

The Soft tissues or the bone of cervical discs may deteriorate because of some severe sickness conditions, including degenerative arthritis which may necessitate surgical interventions. But many acute conditions of lower back pain can be prevented. Sitting postures and position, lifting of objects have to corrected and done in the right way to ensure lower back problems do not attack you.

While working for long hours before a computer, a proper sitting position is required, to avoid lower back pain. An adjustable chair to help your sit comfortable and provides support to your spine and arms can help a lot in this situation. An upright position while sitting is necessary, because, leaning back or forward too much will result in improper distribution of weight, and straining the spine.

Upright standing posture with your shoulders in the back will not strain your back. By stooping, lower portion of spine receives more weight, and results in lower back pain. Avoiding strain to your back means avoiding lower back pain as well.

Important muscles in the back get strained when you bend to pick things with your back, which is a common practice amongst us. This should be avoided as lumbar region is affected both by the body weight and objects weight. While lifting anything from the ground bend the knees and using your legs lift it up, evenly distributing the weight across spine, to avoid lower back pain. You can do some stretching exercises by lying down, to ensure spine remains healthy. Massaging also stretches normally inaccessible muscles, and thus is an important preventive method.

Lower back pain results from poor muscle strength and poorer vertebrae flexibility. Muscles become strong and supple through massaging, exercises and stretching. Make sure that you include these into your daily routine, so that you are assured of long-term health.
