Your baby might develop a rash in the diaper area in form of inflamed skin. It appears reddish in color and you might observe some swelling. Just make sure it is diaper rash and not a case of a yeast infection. They both show similar symptoms but a yeast infection is severe and persistent.
It is advisable to exercise high levels of hygiene with your baby. A good thing to do is constantly check on the baby’s diaper. Change it as soon as it is soiled. Leaving it on even when just filled with urine can cause your baby problems. Change its clothes too.
It is wise to keep your baby warm at all times. However watch out for excess heat that might cause them to sweat. Babies have many skin folds that can accumulate sweat and dirt if left unchecked. Check on the baby regularly to make sure they are breathing okay. Remove extra pieces of clothes in case they are too hot. Change the clothes too if they are damp with sweat. Such conditions encourage bacterial infection that develops into diaper rash.
Other treatments for diaper rash include washing the baby at least once a day. Give your baby a good bath and concentrate on skin folds. Watch out for the neck, under arms, stomach region, diaper area and thighs. They sweat a lot in such regions. Clean them gently with a mild soap and warm water. Observe if there are any changes in skin condition. This helps you arrest a situation in its early stages.
Another remedy to use is airing your baby’s body regularly especially the diaper area. After changing a diaper clean of any dirt and leave the surface exposed for a few minutes. Just make sure the baby is warm enough. This minimizes chances of a bacterial infection from developing any further.
Watch out detergents you use to clean baby’s items. Harsh soaps can irritate their skin and trigger a bacterial infection. This can easily develop into a diaper rash if care is not taken. Wash your child’s clothes in gentle detergents. Avoid using body care products on your baby too. These are unnecessary and might cause skin problems such as diaper rash. Just apply a mild gel to keep skin hydrated. This is one of natural treatments for diaper rash.
Mother’s breast milk is the best for diaper rash. Feed your baby regularly on breast milk. It has compounds that strengthen its disease fighting mechanism. It boosts their immune system which helps in fighting infections caused by microorganisms.
