The actual meaning and definition of the word “underweight” has not yet been fully understood by a lot of people. BMI or body mass index is one of the standards, which is used in measuring the weight of the person with reference to their height. The total weight of the person is divided by the square of their height. This is a very simple calculation, which can be easily done by every person. The height and weight should be simply applied in the following formula:

BMI Body Mass Index - Weight (kg)/ Height (sq.m)

People who have a BMI which is below 16.5 are extremely underweight while those with a BM I between 16.5-18.5 are also classified as underweight and people with a BMI between 18.5-25 are considered to have a normal weight.

Reasons for being Underweight :

A lot of mental stress and tension, an irregular and ill balanced diet will not provide the body with the right amount of nutrition, which it needs. Vitamins and minerals are the most important nutrients, which are required by the body. The deficiency of these nutrients in the everyday diet of the person can trigger the early onset of aging and they can affect the condition of your health to a large extent. The presence of rough skin on the body is a sign that the body is not getting the right amount of nutrition, which it needs.
