Warts are growths, which are found on the surface of the skin. The human papillomavirus causes the occurrence of warts and this is also responsible for the occurrence of cervical cancer. Many people feel that warts are a condition, which is contagious, and it will easily spread among all members of the family. But there is a very high probability that only one member of the family will be affected by these warts. Sometimes they will make their presence felt on only any one portion of the body like the hands and the feet.

Warts, which are present on the body, will also belong to many different shapes and sizes. There are certain warts, which are in the shape of a horseshoe, and they will usually be found on the lips or around the corners of the mouth. Children between the ages of 12-16 are easily susceptible to these kinds of warts.

They could be either pink or white in color and they will feel very rough when touched. Sometimes only a single wart will be present on the skin while it could sometimes be present in the form of bunches and clusters. Scars or black dots will start appearing on the skin in case the warts are plucked and pinched. They are also known as wart seeds. These are actually another name for blood vessels, which have been clotted. The actual region of the occurrence of warts should be well taken care of in order to prevent the occurrence of warts in the future.

There is no specific time for the appearance and the disappearance of these warts.
