Respiratory Diseases – Home Remedies

Respiratory diseases generally denotes different types of breathing disorder or diseases that affect parts like lungs, bronchial tube, trachea, nasal passages, pleural cavity and the nerves and muscles that are linked with breathing process. Some of the very common respiratory diseases are asthma, bronchitis, sleep apnea and tuberculosis. These respiratory diseases can range from mild to severe conditions and the signs and indications differ according to the parts affected.

Causes:

Some of the reasons for respiratory diseases are as follows:

  1. Environmental factors
  2. Genetic factors
  3. Life habits
  4. Allergic stuffs
  5. Climatic conditions
  6. Bacterial or viral infections

Symptoms:

The major signs of respiratory disease are:

  1. Chest pain
  2. Coughing with sputum
  3. Cough with blood
  4. Wheezing
  5. Sudden weight loss
  6. Loss of appetite
  7. Drowsiness
  8. Cyanosis

Home Remedies:

There are many useful home remedies to cure respiratory diseases and they are:

  1. Eat healthy and hygienic food items that are plenty with fruits and vegetables. Drink plenty of water every day to flush out body wastes. This will help you to reduce the risk of infection and promotes better digestion.
  2. Salt water gargles can be done twice a day to clear respiratory passages and get quick relief from symptoms of respiratory diseases.
  3. Avoid junk and fatty food stuffs. This will help you to reduce body weight and paves way for good respiration.
  4. Practise some form of exercises like yoga or breathing exercises to keep your body fit and free from respiratory diseases.
  5. Intake mixture of honey and ginger in equal amounts daily. This will assist you to get proper breathing and gives quick relief from respiratory diseases.
  6. Keep your home and environment neat and clean as this will help to eradicate the infection of bacteria and other harmful germs.
  7. Try to be in fresh air atleast for half an hour every day.
  8. Be aware of the chemicals that are present in your soaps, detergents and other cleaning stuffs. Try to buy high quality cleaning stuffs to avoid respiratory diseases.
  9. Take care of yourself during different climatic conditions. Wear suitable clothes and take precautionary steps before leaving out. This will protect you from any type of bad weather and prevent respiratory diseases.
  10. Drink warm milk mixed with one teaspoon of turmeric and half a teaspoon of pepper. This will give better relief from common cold and soothe respiratory tracts.
  11. Drink a cup of hot chicken soup to soothe respiratory passages.
  12. Take showers with warm water by mixing few drops of odicolonge in it. This will clear the respiratory passage and helps you to breathe well.
  13. Take herbal steam inhalation or menthol inhalation to reduce congestion.
