An antioxidant called Resveratrol is helpful in combating bacteria and fungi that are produced due to harsh climatic conditions. This compound is generally found in the skin of certain plants like red grapes, cranberries, mulberries, blueberries, raspberries and red wine. Resveratrol is also known as a phytoalexin due to its antibiotic property. This natural compound is also found in certain pine trees, knotweed and peanuts. It is 100% natural with no side effects.

Resveratrol is a unique chemical compound (3, 5, 4 -trihydroxystilbene). It is a stilbenoid, which is produced with the help of the enzyme called stilbene synthase in certain plants. It is chiefly present in two geometric isomers namely cis (Z) and trans (E). Exposure to ultraviolet irradiation changes the trans shape into the cis shape due to isomerisation. Trans-resveratrol in powered form is more stable under “accelerated stability” conditions. Resveratrol content remains constant for a long span of time after fermentation.

Red wine constitutes higher percentage of resveratrol content that helps in reducing heart ailments and symptoms of cancer. Since the discovery of Resveratrol in 1940, it highly acknowledged for its anti aging property. It is a natural food supplement, which was first derived from the knotweed plant of Japan.

Anti-oxidant, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties of Resveratrol help in improving different functions of the body that sustain healthy human life.
