Botox is scientifically known as botulin toxin type A, which is increasingly becoming popular due to its non-surgical cosmetic application. Another type of Botox is type B variety (BTX-B). Both are extensively used in therapeutic treatments.
Researches claim that even small injections of botulin toxin type A (BTX-A) can decrease overactive muscle activity. Gradually, doctors started using it in cosmetic surgeries. Botulin toxin type A (BTX-A) is a processed bacteria that finds extensive usage in non-surgical cosmetic treatment including removal of glabellar lines. Experts recommend future intakes of these injections as their effects are not permanent. It is also used in treating excessive underarm sweating, spasticity, muscle disorders and obesity.
Generally, Botox injections must be administered by a proficient physician to avoid any possibility of side effects. For this reason, the so-called “Botox parties” are not recommended. In U.S., Botox is licenced for use for a single person. The best part of Botox is that it can be used gain and again. But, one should prevent consumption of alcohol that can reduce its performance during the treatment process. The effects of Botox usually last for four to six months. These injections are applied on frequent basis between four to eight months, but no less than three.
Hence, Botox treatments are safe as these are fully covered under insurance plan depending upon the medical necessity of the individual. However, people are advised to consult a doctor before using these injections to reduce their risk of getting skin infection or other allergies.
