Symptoms and Home Remedies for Jaundice

Bile pigments in the blood cause Jaundice. In traditional Indian medicine it is diagnosed pitta dosha.
Symptoms of Jaundice :
Jaundice manifests with skin as well as whites of the eyes start yellowing. If the condition is serious it can appear as brown. Apart from yellowing of eyes and skin, the person may find giddiness often, and unable to eat proper food.
Causes of Jaundice :
Jaundice is not in itself a disease, but it is symptomatic of other sicknesses in the body :
- Jaundice is caused through chemical bilirubin in the blood when it is present in high proportions. The yellow pigmentation of the skin and sclera can vary depending upon the level of chemical bilirubin in the blood. When it is too high, it could appear as brown and not yellow.
- When your liver is not working effectively, this condition can manifest.
- Sometimes presence of gall stones can also cause jaundice.
- Liver cirrhosis due to excessive consumption of alcohol can also cause jaundice.
Since jaundice is not in itself a specific disease, you should properly diagnose the causes for jaundice, and treatment should be according attended. Physical examination of the patient and blood tests can reveal how the liver is functioning. If the cause is gall stone, you have remove the stones to relive from this problem. If it is because of over consumption of alcohol, and liver cirrhosis, this condition has to be treated.
a. Green leaves of radish can cure jaundice, if taken as an extract. The green radish leaves should be crushed and their juice extracted and filtered. Half a liter of this filtered juice per day will induce healthy appetite and regulate bowel movements resulting in steady improvement from the condition. It can cure the condition entirely in 8 to 10 days.
- A glass of fresh tomato juice with a pinch of salt can relieve you from symptoms.
- Lemon juice is also very beneficial in the treatment of jaundice.
- Bitter luffa juice extract can cure jaundice. Juice obtained from crushing the bitter luffa, should be filtered and inhaled in small quantity. It will result in yellow colored fluid flowing out profusely from nostrils. Thus the toxic matter is flushed out and the patient gets a relief. The side effects of this treatment can be migraine and giddiness, and sometime high fever for a short while.
- When you are down with jaundice ensure you are on a non fatty diet, so that the liver is not overworked till is free from the disease.
Liver cirrhosis which is commonly caused due to excessive use of alcohol, being a primary cause for jaundice, you should first try to cure the liver and avoid alcohol consumption.
