Tapeworms are type of intestinal parasite that affects not only human but also animals like house hold pets. It causes malnutrition and weight loss for humans who are infected by tapeworm infestation.
The tapeworms grow in the intestine. They eat the nutrients in the intestine and sometimes they pass along with the stool when a person makes bowel movement. Sometimes, worm segments appear on underwear when they pass through the anus.
Tapeworm disease is also known as Taeniasis. It results to chronic intestinal disease and affects also the central nervous system if it also occupies the brain and other vital organs of human body.
What causes Tapeworm Infestation?
Usually tapeworms are caused by the intake of foods like fish, beef and pork that have cyst. They also occur in human intestines by drinking contaminated water and eating undercooked foods. Tapeworm infestation can also be a cause of raw vegetables.
What are the Types of Tapeworms?
There are four types of tapeworms. The tapeworm which is found in beef is called Taenia Saginata while the pork tapeworm is called Taenis Solium. For fish tapeworm is known to be Diphyllobothrium Latum. Another type of tapeworm is dwarf and it is called as Hymenolepis Nana.
What are the Symptoms of Tapeworms Infestation?
A person who is experiencing tapeworms infestation may have nausea, diarrhea and flatulence. In some cases, a person who has this may experience weight loss, loss of appetite and vomiting.
What are the Home Remedies for Tapeworm Infestation?
A person who has tapeworm infestation can drink pomegranates daily or if not he can eat at least 2 of this every day. Drinking plenty of water can help in treating tapeworms. Other home remedies that can be done are the following:
- A person who has tapeworms can use black walnut oil. In using this, he must start slow and then he can increase the dosage as he goes on by this treatment. What he needs to do is to put one or two drops of black walnut oil in a glass of water at least twice a day.
- He can also use pumpkins seeds and onions to be mixed with soya milk. It is the most known home remedy for tapeworms infestation. It is one good way to release the worms.
- Apple cider is also a good remedy for tapeworms infestation. A person can mix apple cider vinegar and apple cider juice to apple brandy daily. Another option is by mixing one to two teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water every day.
Tapeworm prevention:
In order to prevent tapeworm infestation, proper hygiene is very important. One more thing is to consume only clean foods. Washing the vegetables and drinking only clean water is a good practice to avoid tapeworms. When cooking, make sure that meat are well cooked, not undercooked and not overcooked too. By cleaning all the utensils and other cooking wares is also important in avoiding tapeworms. Restrooms should always be clean also.
