What are the Common Causes of Teeth Grinding?

Do you want to know about the causes of grinding teeth? Teeth grinding is biologically called as bruxism. In simple term, it is defined as the act of unconsciously or consciously clenching the teeth either while sleeping or otherwise. Bruxism is a common dental problem. This particular problem is faced by many people all over the world.

Teeth Grind causes harm, mainly to the enamel part of the teeth. It is essential to consult a doctor and take certain measures to kick the habit of teeth grinding. This article will give you some common causes behind the teeth grinding. Stress is one of the main causes behind teeth grinding. When people don’t get enough sleep and are stressed then they are more likely to grind the teeth and they usually do it at the time of sleeping.  There are many scientists who have also found stress as the main reason for teeth grinding.

Secondly, when an individual is angry, frustrated and is forced to suppress his emotions then he starts clenching his teeth. You may also have found various people clenching their teeth when they are angry and do not find a way to calm down their anger. If an individual notices he/she is clenching his teeth at the time of anger and frustration, he should immediately contact a doctor.

Thirdly, an aggressive-natured individual also clenches his teeth when he gets aggressive.  Many people get angry very easily & can’t suppress their anger. In such a situation, people begin grinding their teeth unconsciously while they try to control their anger. Fourth, there are many people, whose teeth are not properly aligned, also face this type of problem. The abnormal alignment of teeth in some people cause involuntarily grinding. This type of improper alignment also called as malocclusion.

Fifth, in some cases, teeth grinding also occurs because of the presence of other diseases in the body. For example, Parkinson’s disease, that affects the nervous system of a human being. Those people who are suffering from this particular disease also grind their teeth.
